Kansen-en Park

Kansen-en Park features a gourd-shaped pond called Yamabuki-no-ido surrounded by flowering shrubs and winding paths across 14,000 square meters of landscaped grounds.

The garden belonged to the Shimizu family, one of Tokugawa Gosankyō's most influential families during the Edo period, before transferring to Marquis Souma after 1867.

The garden incorporates traditional Japanese design elements with stone lanterns, teahouses, and seasonal plants that showcase the philosophy of natural harmony.

Located ten minutes from Waseda Station, the park opens daily from 7:00 to 19:00 between March and October, with winter hours ending at 17:00.

The name derives from the spring water found in the garden, which possessed qualities particularly suitable for preparing traditional Japanese tea ceremonies.
