Kodansha Noma Memorial Museum

The Kodansha Noma Memorial Museum is an art and house museum in Sekiguchi, Tokyo, displaying Japanese art objects within a traditional architectural structure. The building contains multiple exhibition spaces featuring approximately 6,000 art pieces and works by well-known artists.

The museum was founded in 2000 to commemorate the 90th anniversary of Kodansha Publishing Company and preserve the legacy of founder Seiji Noma. The collection represents Japanese cultural developments spanning from the Meiji era through the Heisei period.

The museum displays works by artists such as Kawai Gyokudō and Uemura Shōen in its traditional spaces. These pieces reflect how Japanese art and publishing culture were valued and collected by the Noma family over time.

The museum holds a remarkable collection of approximately 6,000 shikishi objects, which are decorative card papers that have been used in Japan for art purposes for centuries. This collection represents one of the most complete assemblies of this art form.
