Shikoroyama stable, Sumo training stable in Kiyosumi, Koto City, Japan
Shikoroyama stable is a training facility for professional sumo wrestlers in Kiyosumi, Koto City, Japan. The building provides accommodation and coaching for athletes preparing for tournaments.
The operation began in 2004 when Terao Tsunefumi separated from an older training center and recruited new wrestlers. This founding method differed from the usual practice of transferring existing athletes.
The facility takes its name from a specific match grip used in competition. Wrestlers live here following a fixed daily routine with shared meals and clear hierarchies between junior and senior athletes.
The facility lies three minutes on foot from Kiyosumi-shirakawa Station on the Oedo and Hanzomon Lines. Visits are possible only during certain morning hours with prior arrangement, as the training ground is a private living area.
Several wrestlers choose ring names beginning with the same characters as the founder's name. This practice honors the master through a visible linguistic connection in competition.
