いわて子どもの森

Iwate Children's Forest is a children's activity center in Ninohe featuring extensive indoor and outdoor areas plus specialized rooms for sensory development and play. The facility offers multiple themed spaces designed for different age groups and interests.

The center opened in 2003 and underwent major renovations in 2010, adding new themed areas like the YomYom reading room to its facilities. This expansion transformed it into a more comprehensive space for children's activities.

The center honors Japanese bathing traditions through the Omocha-Yu area, which resembles a public bathhouse filled with educational toys. Children experience cultural elements of their heritage in a playful setting.

The facility is open daily with free admission, making it easy for families to visit without cost concerns. An on-site restaurant serves meals, so visitors can spend extended time here without having to leave the grounds.

The YomYom reading area recreates a tropical island setting where children can read while lying down on specially designed surfaces. This creative design links reading with imagination and adventure in an unusual way.
