Senjushinbashi, Road bridge in Senju district, Tokyo, Japan
Senjushinbashi is a road bridge that spans across the Arakawa River, connecting different sections of Adachi ward. The structure consists of two parallel steel sections that were built to carry traffic on National Route 4.
The bridge was built in 1924 as an important infrastructure project for the growing city. Major renovations took place in the 1970s and 1980s to address rising traffic demands.
The Adachi Fireworks Festival has its roots in a tradition that started with the bridge's opening. Today, people gather here to watch fireworks over the river and celebrate the connection between neighborhoods.
The bridge has pedestrian walkways on both sides, while cyclists must walk their bikes across. On clear days, the river view from here is pleasant and makes the crossing on foot more enjoyable.
The bridge consists of two separate sections that were built in different time periods and reflect the city's growth. This divided structure is barely visible to visitors but gives the structure an interesting dual nature.
