Church of Santa Maria della Vittoria

The church features a single nave with lateral Baroque chapels, a neoclassical facade with paired pilasters, and a square bell tower with a pyramidal spire.

The church was constructed in 1525 next to Orsini Castle, replacing the thirteenth-century abbey that was destroyed in 1506 during natural catastrophes.

The wooden statue of Madonna and Child from the 13th century combines French Gothic influences with Florentine and Neapolitan artistic characteristics.

The religious building stands at the highest point of Scurcola Marsicana, adjacent to Rocca Orsini, with new bronze doors installed in 2014.

The placement of the Madonna statue in this church resulted from a contest between two towns, decided by a donkey that carried the statue to Scurcola.
