Stadio dei Pini

Stadio dei Pini is an athletics facility in Avezzano featuring a six-lane track with dedicated areas for long jump, high jump, and throwing events. The venue includes two uncovered stands equipped with press and commentary sections, connected by a tunnel to changing rooms and facilities.

The stadium opened in 1971, though the land was allocated in 1920 following the Marsica earthquake that devastated the region. This connection to post-disaster reconstruction shaped the facility's purpose as a community gathering space.

The venue hosted the international athletics meeting 'Città di Avezzano' where Sara Simeoni set an Italian high jump record in 1974.

The ground is easily accessible on foot, and the open stands provide clear views of all events and activities. Visitors should be prepared for weather exposure since the stands are uncovered.

In 2022, expansion work began to increase the track from six to eight lanes to meet international competition standards. This modernization allows the venue to host higher-level sporting events.
