Orsini-Colonna Castle

The Orsini-Colonna Castle in Avezzano is a fortified structure with thick stone walls, defensive towers, and Renaissance design elements arranged in a rectangular layout. The fortress was built in 1490 by Gentile Virginio Orsini atop the ruins of a 12th-century tower. The Colonna family later acquired the structure and carried out significant expansions and modifications.
