The Aia dei Musei houses over one hundred stone inscriptions spanning Roman, Medieval, and Renaissance periods, documenting social and political aspects of how people lived in the Marsica region. The museum opened on August 19, 1888, making it one of the earliest institutions of its kind in the Abruzzen region. Its collections grew over decades through local excavations and donations from the surrounding area.
