San Pietro

San Pietro is a religious structure in Massa d'Albe built in early Christian style and positioned on a hilltop overlooking the surrounding landscape. The name references the apostle Peter, a key figure in medieval religious devotion throughout Christian Europe. Visitors can see the intricate stone carvings and columns that show the skill and care put into religious spaces during that era.

The building now operates as a museum with interior access for viewing architectural features and historical objects displayed throughout the space. Visitors should allow time to climb to the hilltop location and expect stone steps and passages that require steady footing.

Over the past century, later additions from the 1700s were deliberately removed to reveal the original medieval and early Christian forms hidden underneath. This restoration effort shows how experts worked to uncover the authentic layers of the building's story.
