Description

A wooden bridge from the Edo period originally stood here and served as a key crossing along the Nakasendo road. The current concrete structure was built in 1972 to replace it while maintaining the continuity of this important passage.

The name means 'plank bridge' and shaped how the entire Itabashi district got its identity, with the crossing point becoming central to the neighborhood's character.
