Umenohashi, Footbridge across Asano River in Kanazawa, Japan

Umenohashi is a wooden footbridge spanning the Asano River in Kanazawa and connects both riverbanks. The structure offers views of traditional buildings on either side and provides passage to areas lined with historic architecture.

The bridge was constructed in 1910 and survived the major flood of 1953 that damaged many neighboring structures along the Asano River. This resilience established it as a surviving landmark from the early 20th century.

The bridge draws crowds each spring when locals and visitors gather along the riverbanks for cherry blossom season. It has become a focal point for seasonal celebrations and community gatherings in the city.

The bridge is easily accessible from nearby Kagatsume and Kitama stations on the Hokuriku Railway line. A visit is possible any time of year, though spring weather makes outdoor time most comfortable.

This bridge provides direct access to the Chaya district featuring traditional tea houses and ryotei restaurants on the east bank. This historic area extends the experience beyond the bridge itself.
