Jūkichi Komagata Memorial Art Museum

The museum exhibits both permanent collections of modern Japanese artworks and temporary exhibitions from diverse artists in a purpose-built exhibition space.

Founded in 1964 by banker Jūkichi Komagata, the museum initially operated for 15 years until 1979 when financial difficulties led to its closure.

The museum hosted an international art competition that attracted jurors from multiple countries and supported the Group Ultra Niigata artist collective.

Visitors can participate in guided tours that explain the history of displayed artworks and access educational programs about Japanese art movements.

The museum collection included works from international artists like Paul Cézanne, Salvador Dali, and Pablo Picasso before being distributed to other institutions.
