City Hall Plaza Ao-re Nagaoka, Music venue in Nagaoka, Japan
City Hall Plaza Ao-re Nagaoka is a performing arts center and music venue in Nagaoka, Japan. The building uses timber extensively throughout its interior and brings together concert halls, exhibition rooms, and municipal offices within a single structure.
The complex opened in April 2012 to provide Nagaoka with a central space for performing arts and civic gatherings. It formed part of a rebuilding initiative following the 2004 earthquake that affected the region.
The plaza hosts regular concerts, exhibitions, and local art shows in its indoor arena, creating a central meeting point for residents and visitors.
The building stands a three-minute walk from JR Nagaoka Station and offers underground parking with spaces for cars. The facility is open daily from 8 AM to 10 PM.
The covered interior courtyard called Nakadoma links several parts of the building and screens video projections of the Nagaoka fireworks. These recordings come from the annual fireworks evenings held along the Shinano River.
