Castello Pandone, Medieval castle in Venafro, Italy
The castle features three circular towers with truncated conical bases positioned at the northern, western, and southern corners of the fortification structure.
The original castle, constructed by the Pandone family during the 15th century, experienced extensive reconstruction following the earthquake of 1349.
The castle museum displays an extensive collection of medieval artworks, including alabaster artifacts and frescoes from various regional churches.
The National Museum of Molise, housed within the castle walls, provides guided tours throughout the week and maintains multilingual information panels.
The noble quarters contain original 16th-century frescoes commissioned by Count Enrico Pandone, depicting life-sized portraits of his prized horses.
