Temple of Mars Ultor, Roman temple in Forum of Augustus, Italy

Three tall Corinthian columns remain standing at the eastern end of the Forum of Augustus, reaching a height of 15 meters.

Emperor Augustus commissioned the temple in 42 BCE to commemorate his victory at the Battle of Philippi against Caesar's assassins.

The temple housed the sword of Julius Caesar and military standards recovered from the Parthians, serving as a central point for Roman military ceremonies.

The remains of the temple include a high podium, marble architectural fragments, and decorative elements now displayed in the Museum of Imperial Forums.

The temple featured a frontal colonnade with eight columns, while the sides had no columns at the back, adhering to the peripteros sine postico design.
