Pieve dei Santi Leonardo e Cristoforo a Monticchiello

The Pieve dei Santi Leonardo e Cristoforo is a stone church with Gothic characteristics located at the hilltop of Monticchiello in Tuscany. The building has a T-shaped floor plan with a rectangular choir and two symmetrical side aisles that organize the interior space.

The church was built in the second half of the 13th century during Monticchiello's period of growth as an independent community. Its design reflects a blend of styles that marks the shift from Romanesque forms toward Gothic patterns happening across the region at that time.

The church sits at the highest point of the village and can be reached by walking through Monticchiello's main street. The location is easily accessible on foot from the village center along a paved route.

The front portal displays slender columns topped by a large rose window with geometric divisions and pointed trefoil arches. This combination of features is rarely seen in rural settings, making it a distinctive element worth noting.
