Futai-in

Futai-in is a temple in Nishio with a main hall housing a Shō-kannon statue surrounded by five Myō-ō figures. These figures represent different aspects of Buddhist teaching and form the central elements of the site's religious imagery.

The temple was founded in 845 by Ariwara no Narihira and stands on the former residence site of Emperor Heizei. This location connects the place to imperial history and centuries of religious practice in the region.
