白金AER CITY, Mixed-use development in Shirokane, Tokyo, Japan
The 白金AER CITY is a mixed-use complex featuring a 42-story residential tower and a 26-story office building directly connected to Shirokane-Takanawa metro station. The development houses a major supermarket, dining options, medical services, and pharmacies spread across its different levels and sections.
Development of this major project started in 2002 on a former industrial site and was completed in 2005, transforming the area into a contemporary urban center. The transformation marked a significant shift in how the Shirokane neighborhood developed over the following years.
The site hosts the Ten'no Kawa Firefly Festival from June to July, where visitors observe Genji fireflies that are nurtured by local specialists in a special garden space. This seasonal event brings together residents and visitors who appreciate the effort to maintain nature within the urban setting.
The facility provides direct access to both Mita and Namboku subway lines from the station entrance. All essential amenities such as shopping, dining, and medical services are conveniently located within the complex, making it easy to navigate on foot.
The name AER derives from the Greek word meaning air, wind, and breath, symbolizing the project's vision of renewal and openness in the urban environment. This naming choice reflects the designers' intention to create a space that feels fresh and connected to natural elements.
