Johoku Kotsu Park

Johoku Kotsu Park is a traffic education facility in Itabashi-ku with a dedicated course designed for children to practice road skills. The space features a one-kilometer layout with real traffic signals, road signs, and small vehicles that create a controlled driving environment.

The site was established to provide children with realistic traffic training and this purpose has remained central over time. A displayed steam locomotive D51 reflects Japan's railway history and shows how transportation has evolved.

The park serves as a learning space where children experience traffic rules in a hands-on way during school visits and family outings. People come here specifically to understand how roads work and what makes movement through cities safe.

The park is open most days but has regular closures that are worth checking beforehand to plan your visit. The grounds are easily accessible with ample parking and straightforward pathways throughout.

Only children from about age 8 are permitted to operate the miniature vehicles while respecting actual traffic signals and road markings. This makes the space particularly valuable for young learners to practice real traffic scenarios before venturing onto actual streets.
