Ōmidō temple ruins, Buddhist temple ruins in Kurayoshi, Japan
The temple complex spans 135 meters east to west and 165 meters north to south, featuring foundations of multiple buildings and a water system.
Archaeological excavations between 1994 and 2000 revealed building foundations, including a pagoda measuring 9.6 meters on each side and a lecture hall of 32 by 16 meters.
The architectural design mirrors the layout of Kanzeon-ji temple in Dazaifu, with the Main Hall positioned west, pagoda east, and lecture hall with monastic chambers north.
The archaeological site maintains evidence of foundation stones, ceramic fragments, and architectural elements that visitors can examine within a public park setting.
Excavated artifacts include Buddha statue fragments, stone Bodhisattva figures, copper spoons, and molds for Buddhist altar fittings dating from the mid-7th century.
