Sprīdīši, Memorial museum in Tērvete Parish, Latvia
Sprīdīši is a memorial museum in a wooden house in Tērvete Parish that was the home of writer Anna Brigadere. Three restored rooms display her furniture, books, and personal items, giving a sense of how she lived during her writing years.
The museum opened in 1933 after Anna Brigadere's death, when she had spent her final ten summers in this forester's house. The building dates from the 19th century and served as her retreat during her most productive writing period.
The name comes from Spriditis, a character in Anna Brigadere's fairy tales who represents determination and strength in Latvian literature. The rooms show how the writer lived and worked during her time there.
Access is by advance reservation, which can be arranged by phone. The site is located within Tervete Nature Park, so comfortable clothing suitable for the natural surroundings is recommended.
The house was deliberately left unmodernized, allowing visitors to experience the original interior and modest conditions in which the writer worked. This makes the place an authentic record of her daily reality.
