Harmonien, Wooden clubhouse and residence at Torvet, Norway
Harmonien is a two-floor wooden Rococo building in Trondheim measuring 39 meters long and 13 meters wide. The facade features standing panel cladding and large windows that provide light and elegance throughout the structure.
The building was constructed between 1769 and 1773 by Judge Hans Ulrich Mølmann and his wife Gudlov. In 1825, the Klubbselskabet Harmonien organization took over the property and transformed it into a key social gathering place.
The building served Trondheim's wealthy citizens as a venue for balls, concerts, and social gatherings. Its rooms reflect the upper class preference for elegant events and refined entertainment.
The building contained residential areas, a ballroom for events, and a commercial bazaar in the basement that was particularly active during the 1860s. Its central location at Torvet made it easily accessible for Trondheim residents.
A severe winter fire destroyed the original building completely in 1942. The structure had shaped Trondheim's cityscape for over 170 years before it disappeared in the flames.
