Wawel Jordanka Tower

The Jordanka Tower is a medieval tower at Wawel Castle with thick stone walls that show construction from many different periods. The structure was part of the castle's defensive system and contains rooms that were added and changed over the centuries.

The tower was built in medieval times and served as part of the palace where Polish kings carried out government affairs until 1596. After that year, the capital moved away and the castle became a place of memory rather than power.

Inside you will find an Italian study room that shows how Renaissance ideas shaped the royal court's taste in art and design. The room reflects what mattered to the rulers who spent their time here.

The tower is accessible through guided tours of the castle available from Tuesday to Sunday. It is best to check the opening times in advance since they can change depending on the season.

The tower gardens offer views of the Vistula River and hold archaeological remains from an early medieval settlement on Wawel Hill. These finds show that people lived here long before the castle was built.
