Zakład Balneologiczny w Sopocie

The Zakład Balneologiczny w Sopocie is a spa and therapy center in Sopot, Poland, with striking Art Nouveau architecture, decorative sculptures, and stained glass windows along with a tower-like structure at its northeastern corner. The facility offers brine baths, cryotherapy, kinesitherapy, balneotherapy, hydrotherapy, inhalation treatments, and rehabilitation services year-round.

The building was constructed in 1903 by architects Paul Puchmüller and Heinrich Dunkel on the site of Dr. Jerzy Haffner's original bathing center from 1824. This new construction brought modern therapeutic facilities to a historically significant location.

The building displays Ferdinand Mueller's Art Nouveau stained glass windows in its treatment rooms and a notable sculpture of a mermaid above the main entrance. These artistic elements reflect the place's importance as a wellness center and give the interior spaces a distinctive character.

The facility welcomes visitors year-round, and the various therapies can be used independently of one another. It helps to bring comfortable clothing and swimwear since many treatments involve water or movement-based work.

A fountain in front of the building pumps water from St. Adalbert's spring, which contains a therapeutic bromine and iodide salt solution. This naturally occurring mineral water reflects the geological features of this coastal region.
