Świecie Castle

Świecie Castle is a fortress located between the Vistula and Wda rivers, featuring four cylindrical towers at its corners and thick stone walls built in Gothic style. The structure displays typical medieval military architecture with reinforced defensive positions.

The Teutonic Knights built this fortress between 1335 and 1350 as a strategic outpost to control trade routes along the Vistula River. It played a key role in securing the territories the order dominated in the region.

The castle retains traces of its past as a knight's residence, with walkways, gates, and reconstructed living spaces that show how occupants lived in a fortified compound. Visitors can see rooms arranged as they might have been centuries ago, offering a sense of daily life in this military stronghold.
