Olsztynek Castle, Gothic castle in Olsztynek, Poland.
Olsztynek Castle is a 14th-century brick fortress composed of multiple connected wings enclosed by thick outer walls. The reconstructed tower rises above all other structures and dominates the appearance of the entire complex.
The Teutonic Knights built this fortress between 1346 and 1353 as a stronghold in their eastern expansion. It later became an important administrative center for the region.
The name derives from the historical region of Warmia, and visitors can see how people lived and worked here during the Middle Ages. The displayed objects show the daily life of knights and administrators who used this stronghold as a regional center.
The building now houses a museum with exhibitions about the region that help visitors understand the area's history. It is easily accessible with clear pathways through the various rooms and wings.
An astronomical table with calculations from the early 16th century still hangs above the entrance to one of the historic rooms. These markings document the scientific knowledge that was connected to this place.
