Olsztynek

Olsztynek is a city in the Warmia-Masuria region with a historic center where Gothic buildings and remnants of medieval fortifications still stand. It is surrounded by forest and divided between an old town core with traditional streets and newer areas that developed around it.

A fortress was founded here in 1334, which later developed into a settlement that received urban rights in 1353 from the bishopric. Its location along an important trade route helped the town grow over the centuries.

The Museum of Warmia and Mazury displays objects from different periods that reflect how people lived in this region. Visitors can see traditional crafts and everyday items that were used across generations.

The city has good rail and road connections, making it easy to reach other places in the region. Clear routes lead to the lakes of the Masurian district and to neighboring towns.

A large tire manufacturing facility operates within the city limits, creating an unexpected contrast with the medieval architecture. This factory has shaped the appearance and economy of the place since the 20th century.
