Ethnographic Park in Olsztynek, Ethnographic open-air museum in Olsztynek, Poland.
The Ethnographic Park in Olsztynek is an open-air museum spanning roughly 94 hectares with around 79 rural buildings relocated from different parts of Poland. The structures range from farmhouses and workshops to chapels, all arranged across the landscape to show how villages were organized.
The collection began in 1913 when twelve buildings arrived from Königsberg during wartime as a preservation effort. Since then, the museum expanded steadily through the relocation of additional historic structures from surrounding areas.
The park displays homes, churches, and workshops from the Warmia and Masuria regions as they appeared in earlier times. Visitors can observe how people lived and worked within these structures.
The park is walk-through and quite large, so wear comfortable shoes and allow plenty of time for exploration. Paths vary in surface quality, and some areas may become muddy after rain.
The park maintains a small petting zoo and plants traditional fruit and vegetable gardens showing what was grown on such farms. These living elements give visitors a more direct connection to earlier rural life.
