Brama Poznania ICHOT, Archaeological museum in Śródka district, Poznań, Poland.
Brama Poznania is an archaeological museum in Poznań's Śródka district located on the Cybina riverbank. The building connects via footbridge to the restored Cathedral Lock and displays its exhibitions in a minimalist architectural setting.
The museum opened on April 30, 2014, following an international architectural competition won by the AD ARTIS studio as part of Poznań's urban revitalization. This opening marked a shift in how the city's archaeological heritage was presented to the public.
The four exhibition halls tell the story of Ostrów Tumski's transformation from ancient times to the present day. Visitors encounter each period through different perspectives that show how the island developed as a settlement.
The museum is open Tuesday through Friday from 09:00 to 18:00 and on weekends from 10:00 to 19:00. Audio guides are available in eight languages to help visitors navigate the exhibitions.
The museum functions as Poland's first heritage interpretation center, relying on multimedia presentations rather than traditional museum objects. This approach allows visitors to experience history through contemporary storytelling and technology instead of physical artifacts.
