Church of the Visitation in Iwkowa

The Church of the Visitation is a Gothic wooden church in Iwkowa with log construction, steep roofs, and two portals topped with trefoil arches. The rectangular nave flows into the chancel, displaying crafted details from multiple building periods.

An earlier church from the 14th century stood on this site before the current building was raised in the late 15th century. The tower was added afterward, reflecting construction changes across generations.

The interior holds late Gothic artworks, including a 15th-century crucifix and colorful carved figures of Mary and John. These pieces shape the visual character of the space today.

Access to the church is through the two main entrances on the facade. Visitors should examine the interior elements carefully, as many details are easy to overlook.

The building was constructed with a special log technique without nails, where wooden beams interlock at the corners. This traditional craft method allowed solid walls to be formed that support the roof's weight.
