Iwkowa

Iwkowa is a village in southern Brzesko County within Lesser Poland Voivodeship. It comprises nine distinct neighborhoods spread across rolling terrain, each with its own local character and agricultural heritage.

Human settlement in this area began during the Neolithic period, between 4000 and 1700 BCE, when early farming communities first moved here. These pioneers established the agricultural way of life that would define the region for thousands of years.

St. Mary's Church, built over two centuries from the 15th onward, shapes the village center with traditional Polish design and serves as a gathering place for locals. The building reflects the religious life that has always mattered to people here.

The village sits roughly 18 kilometers from Brzesko and about 50 kilometers southeast of Kraków, making it accessible as a countryside visit. Walking between the nine neighborhoods offers a good way to experience the scattered rural landscape at a slow pace.

The nine neighborhoods are scattered across terrain with multiple ridges and rises rather than grouped together in one spot. This scattered layout creates visual surprises as you move between sections, with new views of the countryside revealing themselves around each hillside.
