The name Ciecień first appeared in documents from 1365, referring to the characteristic notch between its two uneven peaks visible from the south.
The yellow hiking trail from Wiśniowa village extends 4.5 kilometers to the summit, with an elevation gain of 497 meters through forest paths.
The western slopes above Wiśniowa feature a meadow that has become a launching point for paragliders, offering views of surrounding mountains.
