Góra Kozacka, Morainic hill in Kolbudy, Poland.
Góra Kozacka is a morainic hill in Kolbudy that rises to an elevation of 136.8 meters (449 feet) and forms part of the glacially shaped landscape of the Kashubian Lake District. Its slopes rise prominently above the surrounding terrain in this region of gentle ridges and depressions.
The hill was shaped millions of years ago by glacial processes that created the characteristic morainic landscape of the region. During the Napoleonic Wars at the start of the 19th century, German maps recorded it as Kosaken Berg, named after Russian cavalry forces passing through.
The name reflects a connection to Russian cavalry forces that passed through northern Polish territories during the military operations of 1813. This historical link remains part of the place's local identity.
The hill is accessible via walking paths from different entry points in the area. The terrain is generally easy to navigate and suitable for visitors of varying fitness levels.
The northern slope once held the source of the Oruski Stream, but this spring dried up after a waste site was constructed nearby. This shift shows how local development has altered the natural water systems.
