Fort Jazuicki

Fort Jazuicki is a circular battery with bastions and casemates from the 17th century in Gdańsk. The structure was designed to position artillery at different angles to defend the harbor area.

The fort was built around 1600 and grew stronger during conflicts with Sweden. Later it served again during the Napoleonic Wars when the region changed hands multiple times.

The fort shows how people in this region built defenses to protect their city from invaders. You can see how military builders thought about the layout and strength needed for such work.

Access to the interior is currently limited, but the outer walls and grounds are open for walking around. Comfortable shoes help when exploring the uneven terrain around the structure.

Beneath the fort lie flooded wooden bunkers that still hold old weapons and military objects from the past. These underground spaces are an unusual discovery and show how defenders once stored their resources.
