Church of Saint Matthew in Starogard Gdański

The brick structure features three naves, a rectangular chancel, and decorative gables adorned with double-arch blind windows near the Wierzyca river.

Construction of the current building started in 1309 under Teutonic Order rule, with subsequent modifications following fires in 1461, 1484, and 1655.

The church shifted between Catholic and Lutheran denominations during the Reformation period before returning permanently to Catholic ownership in 1599.

The church maintains regular religious services and permits visitors to explore its architectural elements before and after scheduled worship times.

A mid-15th century wall painting depicting Judgment Day remains preserved above the chancel arch, accompanied by the Renaissance gravestone of Jerzy Niemojewski.
