Kościół św. Jacka w Chochołowie

Kościół św. Jacka w Chochołowie, Catholic church in Chochołów, Poland

Saint Hyacinth Church in Chochołów is a Catholic place of worship with three altars created at the Wood Industry School in Zakopane between 1883 and 1891. These altars feature polychrome figures by Józef Galleth and form the main focal points of the interior.

Construction began in 1853 under Father Wojciech Blaszyński's leadership and was completed in 1866 by Father Tomasz Kossek following Blaszyński's passing. The completion marked the end of a prolonged building phase shaped by steady commitment.

The interior displays frescos painted by Walery Eljasz depicting Father Blaszyński presenting a church model to the Virgin Mary. These details reflect the deep connection between the community and their faith.

The church is open during the week with various prayer services offered, though exact times may vary by season. It is helpful to check local schedules ahead of your visit to plan a service or tour properly.

The interior houses a tower containing three bells that serve as historical artifacts for the community. These bells have been central to the parish's religious life since their installation.
