Collegium Altum w Poznaniu, Academic skyscraper in Poznań, Poland
Collegium Altum is a modern academic building in Poznań that rises over 100 meters with 22 floors and a steel frame structure. The design allows for open floor plans filled with teaching spaces and administrative areas.
Construction began in 1979 and the building was completed in 1991, making it the tallest structure in the city at that time. Another taller building surpassed it in 2001.
The building is home to the University of Economics and stands out prominently in the city skyline. Students spend their days here attending lectures and seminars across various floors.
The building is located on Powstańców Wielkopolskich Street in the city center and is easily accessible by public transportation. Thermal improvements were made in 2020 to modernize the structure.
The television antenna on the roof required a helicopter to install it in 1983 after wind prevented an initial attempt. This unusual operation shows the special challenges of constructing such tall structures.
