Colegiada de Nossa Senhora da Oliveira

Colegiada de Nossa Senhora da Oliveira is a medieval church in central Guimarães that blends Romanesque, Gothic, and Manueline architectural styles. The building features a distinctive bell tower from 1513 and several side chapels within its interior spaces.

Founded in 949 by Countess Mumadona Dias as a double monastery, this structure became a collegiate church around 1139 under royal patronage. This transformation marked the shift from a private religious community to an institutionalized religious establishment.

The main facade displays a large window showing the Virgin's family tree, while the central altar holds an ancient image of Nossa Senhora da Oliveira. This place draws visitors who want to see religious artworks spanning different periods.
