Pamyatnik Prirody Ptich'ya Gavan'

Pamyatnik Prirody Ptich'ya Gavan' is a nature reserve composed of three lakes and wetland areas within the city of Omsk. The site spans 170 hectares and provides habitat for many water bird and plant species.

The area was originally part of the Irtysh River channel until the 17th century, when the landscape transformed through natural geographic changes. The isolated waterway structure that resulted created the conditions for the ecology seen today.

The site attracts birdwatchers and nature researchers who come to study local ecosystems. Visitors can observe how the space is actively used for education and wildlife observation.

The site has a 12-meter observation tower and an educational trail with information boards about local flora and fauna. Wear comfortable shoes since paths can be muddy or wet depending on the season.

The area is home to over 155 bird species, including 26 endangered species listed in Russia's Red Book. This concentration of threatened species makes the site exceptionally important for bird conservation and ecological research.
