The Lutheran Church of the Holy Catherine

The Lutheran Church of the Holy Catherine is a house of worship in Omsk that combines baroque forms with gothic elements in its design. The building displays three arched windows and pilasters on its front, while a gothic tower crowns the roof.

The building was constructed at the end of the 18th century and originally received a baroque tower. In the early 20th century, this tower was replaced with a gothic one, fundamentally changing the building's appearance.

The church emerged as a meeting place for foreign Protestant communities who lived and worked in Omsk. It reflects the historical connection between the city and the European groups that were active here.

The building sits in central Omsk on Dostoevsky Street and is easy to reach on foot. It is best viewed during daylight hours when all the facade details are clearly visible.

The roof is crowned by a gothic tower that shows a blend of late baroque and gothic styles, reflecting the different building phases. This combination of two design periods is uncommon in Siberia and makes the building architecturally noteworthy.
