Trading House of M.S. Kuznetsov

Architect Fyodor Schechtel designed the building in 1898 for entrepreneur Matvey Kuznetsov, who ran his trading business there. After the Russian Revolution in 1917, commercial operations ended and the building became a historical monument.

The building reflects the wealth and aspirations of Moscow's business elite at the turn of the century, with its ornamental facade showing the importance placed on commerce. The decorative details with nature motifs were signs of prosperity and forward-thinking design for the time.
