The museum opened in 2011 in the former Bakhmetevsky Bus Garage, a constructivist structure designed by architect Konstantin Melnikov in 1926.
The permanent exhibition documents Russian Jewish communities from medieval times through the Soviet era, including their migration patterns and social transformations.
Exhibits feature dual-language presentations in Russian and English, with digital interfaces guiding visitors through different historical periods and testimonies.
The museum houses the transferred Schneerson Library collection, containing rare Hebrew manuscripts previously held at the Russian State Library.
