VTB Arena, Multi-purpose sports complex in northern Moscow, Russia
VTB Arena brings together a football pitch and an ice hockey rink under one roof, with seating for up to 27,000 people during matches. The building sits in the northern part of the city and forms part of a larger development centered on sports and entertainment.
Construction began in 2014 on the grounds of the former Central Dynamo Stadium, incorporating elements of the original facade into the new design. Completion took several years and merged modern architecture with the architectural heritage of the Soviet era.
FC Dynamo Moscow and HC Dynamo Moscow both use this facility as their home ground, maintaining the sporting legacy of the Dynamo name.
Two metro stations, Dinamo and Petrovsky Park, sit nearby and connect the site through lines 2, 8A and 11 to the center. On match days the area is accessible, though crowds build up noticeably before and after events.
The building holds a hotel, office space, apartments, a conference center and a sports academy for FC Dynamo Moscow within its structure. These facilities are woven into the design and create a center that operates beyond match days.
