The forest received official protected status on May 30, 2002, establishing regulations to preserve the natural environment of the Severodvinsk region.

Local residents maintain traditional practices of mushroom and berry gathering within the forest boundaries while respecting environmental conservation guidelines.

The forest contains specific pine varieties where 45 percent are bilberry pine stands and 26 percent are lingonberry pine stands.
