The Matveyev City Estate features a single-story stone structure with a wooden mezzanine floor, displaying classical architectural elements from the 19th century.
Originally owned by Moscow merchant Stepan Matveyevich Matveyev in 1838, the estate passed to his daughter and later to the Butyugin merchant family.
The building represents a remaining example of residential architecture from the former German Quarter, incorporating traditional Russian design elements.
Following extensive restoration work completed in 2020, the historical building now functions as a four-star mini-hotel in central Moscow.
Architect I.S. Kuznetsov reconstructed the building between 1908 and 1910, making it his personal residence until 1975.
