Lefortovo Palace

Lefortovo Palace is a Baroque structure on the Yauza River in Moscow featuring a symmetrical design, decorative tile work, and a prominent front facing the water. The building sits within landscaped grounds that connect to the adjacent park area.

Built in 1699 for Franz Lefort, a military figure working under Peter the Great, the building reflected Russia's growing interest in European knowledge and practices. Over the centuries it housed various Russian nobility and military establishments.

The palace shows how Russian architecture opened itself to Western styles during a transformative period. Walking through it, you notice how European building methods and design ideas took root here.
