The Yesenin monument on Yesenin Boulevard is a bronze statue of the Russian poet Sergei Yesenin, set on a pedestal along the tree-lined boulevard that bears his name in the Kuzminki district of Moscow. The figure was made by sculptor Anatoly Bichukov and shows the poet standing upright on a base raised above street level.
The monument was unveiled in 1972, around four decades after the poet's death, during a period when Moscow began placing literary figures in residential public spaces. Yesenin himself had risen to prominence in the 1910s and 1920s as one of the most widely read voices in Russian poetry.
The sculpture shows Yesenin standing as if about to recite a verse, which often makes passersby stop and look up at him. The boulevard shares his name, turning the whole stretch into a kind of open-air tribute to the poet.
The statue stands along the boulevard and can be reached on foot from the Kuzminki or Volzhskaya metro stations nearby. The area has benches along the tree-lined path, so it is easy to stop and spend some time there at any hour.
