Abdullah Ibn Abbas Mosque, Ta'if

Abdullah Ibn Abbas Mosque is a place of worship in Ta'if with white minarets and domes that rise above the city. Inside, there is a large prayer hall with separate sections for men and women, along with areas for ritual ablution before prayer.

The site held religious significance long before Islam, once serving as a temple dedicated to a pre-Islamic deity. With the spread of Islam in the region, this sacred location was transformed and eventually became the mosque that stands there today.

The mosque bears the name of a grandson of Prophet Muhammad who became renowned for his scholarly knowledge. Visitors can sense the religious importance of this place through the careful design of prayer spaces and the attention given to ritual purification.

The mosque is open daily during the five daily prayer times, and visitors should remove their shoes before entering. Access is organized separately for men and women, with washing areas located in designated parts of the building.

The place is connected to a striking story from the time when the mosque's namesake was buried here. According to accounts, witnesses saw an unusual white bird circling above the burial site before it vanished from view.
