Piratenmuseum is a literary museum housed in a former railway caretaker's residence in Vollsjö that documents the life and works of Swedish author Fritiof Nilsson Piraten. The museum displays a growing collection of books, personal belongings, and first editions, with an antiquarian bookshop on the premises.

The author was born in 1895 as the son of a railway stationmaster and earned the nickname 'Piraten' during his university years. His debut novel 'Bombi Bitt och jag' published in 1932 marked the beginning of an influential literary career in Sweden.

The museum illustrates the author's deep connection to the Vollsjö region, where his stories center on railway workers and rural communities. Visitors encounter narratives that reflect the daily lives of ordinary people during his lifetime.

The museum opens daily from 13:00 to 17:00 between late June and early September, allowing time to explore the exhibits at a relaxed pace. Books are available for purchase in the shop, and the small building contains several rooms to explore.

Before becoming a writer, the author worked as a lawyer and entertained his colleagues in courtrooms by improvising fictional stories. This early gift for captivating audiences shaped his distinctive narrative style.
